The Association of Judges has demanded an immediate unfreezing of judges’ salaries, increased pay for court administration members, and new job competitions, aiming at, as it pointed out on Monday, ensuring an efficient and independent judicial system.
As it added, it has submitted to the Constitutional Court an amendment to the initiative to assess the constitutionality and legality of the Law on Judges’ Salaries, including the latest changes, passed on February 25, 2026.
The initiative seeks to annul the amendments keeping judges’ salaries frozen for a third consecutive year. In addition, it warned that if the “bringing down” of the justice system continued, judges would consider other forms to express their dissatisfaction and visible protest, supporting, at the same time, court administration members, too, in terms of taking legal steps to express their dissatisfaction.
