Belovska: Court Only Relevant Organ on Deciding on End of Judge’s Term

Regarding the information about the notification sent to Parliament by the Judicial Council concerning the issue of old-age retirement of Constitutional Court Judge Dobrila Kacarska, the Court’s Spokesperson, Hristina Belovska, said on Wednesday that a Constitutional Court judge’s term didn’t end on those grounds.

In addition to pointing to Article 111 of the Constitution, the Spokesperson stated that the only relevant organ deciding on the end of a Constitutional Court judge’s term was the Court itself.

Any state organ carrying out any activity, not in line with provisions provided for in Article 111, represents a severe violation of the Constitution, she added. In the 60-year existence of the Court, a judge’s term hasn’t ended on grounds of old-age retirement, Belovska underlined.
