Bulgarian Politicians, too, React to Decoupling Decision

We Continue the Change leader Kiril Petkov says North Macedonia has to decide whether it wants to include Bulgarians in its Constitution or its EU path to be stopped.

As he explains, the deal reached during his term as Bulgaria’s PM, the French proposal, has proven very good for his country.

Petkov adds that he hopes very much North Macedonia will rethink things because of the decoupling decision. Revival leader Kostadin Kostadinov welcomes the decoupling decision. In his view, that follows Tirana’s recognition of the Bulgarian minority and guaranteeing of all constitutional rights for its members.

Kostadinov shares Petkov’s view that North Macedonia has two options, that is, including Bulgarians in its Constitution or its EU path being stopped.

Regarding the Good-Neighbourliness Treaty, the Revival leader’s stand is that since Skopje has refused to respect it, Sofia no longer needs to adhere to obligations stemming from it either.

Also when it comes to Revival, Bulgaria’s Parliament has adopted its declaration to, as it said, condemn “anti-Bulgarian” statements by politicians in North Macedonia and the refusal to meet conditions stemming from the Negotiating Framework.
