Cardiologist Sashko Kedev has left Health Minister Aliu’s health council. First, on Friday, Kanal 5 said Ministry sources had confirmed for it that the reason for that was the halt in the control processes initiated following the scandal involving alleged unnecessary heart surgeries.
So far, there’s been no confirmation whether, and if so, when, the commission involving foreign experts in the area will start activities, the TV station said in its report that day. There’ve also been reactions that the commission formed by the Ministry didn’t include competent staff, i.e. people with proven expert and professional credibility, but rather internists and forensic medicine doctors.
On Saturday, the Health Ministry said it hadn’t received a resignation. However, it didn’t say whether it had heard about the information about the resignation, Kanal 5 pointed out that day.
Nonetheless, the 360 Stepeni portal said the same day it had obtained the resignation from Ministry sources, pointing out that it had been submitted on January 23. In it, Kedev, says that he’s leaving because he considers that the started control processes should be implemented exclusively by competent staff with already proven expert and professional credibility.
Minister Aliu has stated that he will contact Kedev on Monday to ask him about the resignation.
