Cases against Police Offices over Pulse Nightclub Fire Face New Delays

The investigation into the “Pulse” nightclub tragedy in Kochani, where 63 people died in a fire, faces fresh delays after prosecutor Ivana Aleksova Trajcheva’s mandate at the Organized Crime Office was not extended.

Her three cases against police officers, already in advanced stages, will now be reassigned to another prosecutor, who must review extensive documentation before trials proceed.

The Council of Public Prosecutors said the decision was made to allow new staff and prevent concentration of power. State Prosecutor Nenad Saveski emphasized that cases are routinely reassigned and continue under law.

The reactions to this event prompted an announcement by the Basic Public Prosecution, in which they state that the replacement of Aleksova Trajcheva will not delay trials in the “Pulse” case, and urged journalists to report responsibly.
