The Shansa za Centar (Chance for Centar) civic initiative has said that that in the upcoming local elections, too, independent candidates will be presented the ballot papers only through the name of list carriers, not through the name of the group (that is, the paper will include only the list carrier’s first and last name, as well as “group of voters”).
According to the initiative, there is a possibility of similar names appearing in order to confuse voters (for example, “Biljana Ivanovska” spelled differently in Macedonian, that is, “Билјана Ивановска” and “Биљана Ивановска”), which was the case in previous elections too.
“There is a possibility of us getting a notebook with a big number of names, where political parties will be at the top, followed by long lists of names, instead of us getting a clear voting list”, it notes.
