Commander of NATO Joint Force Command Naples Visits North Macedonia

Commander of NATO’s Joint Force Command Naples, Admiral George Wikoff, is leading a delegation on a two-day visit to North Macedonia and its Army that began on September 9, 2026. During the visit, Wikoff met with Deputy PM and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski and Army Chief of General Staff Major General Sashko Lafchiski.

The talks focused on the regional security situation, progress toward NATO capability targets, opportunities to conduct military exercises in North Macedonia, improving interoperability and further strengthening cooperation within the Alliance. Wikoff highlighted North Macedonia’s commitment to contributing actively to regional stability and security and praised the professionalism and contribution of its Army to NATO-led activities.

The meetings also underscored the importance of a coordinated and unified approach among NATO members in addressing emerging security challenges.
