On Thursday, at her hearing at the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Enlargement Commissioner-designate Marta Kos, answering questions from Bulgarian MEPs regarding North Macedonia, said that the country was expected to change the Constitution, as it had promised, nothing more and nothing less.
Bulgaria’s representatives also asked the Commissioner-designate what her stand was on how bilateral issues between members and candidates would be being resolved and whether she, if she officially became Commissioner, would work on rights of Bulgarians in North Macedonia being respected.
She said that in terms of bilateralisation of potential disputes of that kind, the interest of members surely came first, adding that she and her colleagues would do everything they could not to import bilateral issues in the enlargement process.
