Former Communal Hygiene head Sabahudin Rustemi and Aki Saiti, waste manager at the PE, have been charged with endangering the environment with waste.
According to the investigation, in October, they didn’t perform proper supervision and failed to carry out legal obligations to collect and transport communal waste in Skopje.
Authorities also explain that Rustemi didn’t execute decisions by the Managing Board and provide regular and quality performance of communal services, while Saiti, despite having the proper expert permit, together with Rustemi, didn’t carry out measures for regular waste management.
That, it is pointed out in the charge, resulted in illegal landfills being created at multiple public and traffic areas next to containers. Since the investigation has been completed, the Prosecutor’s Office has sought that the detention measure be replaced by measures of precaution for both.
