Conference on EU Integration Held in Parliament

First Deputy PM and European Affairs Minister Bekim Sali said the Western Balkans should capitalize on the renewed strategic importance of EU enlargement by accelerating reforms and turning political commitments into measurable results.

Speaking at a high-level parliamentary conference in Skopje, he stressed that European integration cannot be driven by governments alone, arguing that Parliament must play an active role in monitoring reforms, identifying delays and demanding concrete results from institutions.

Sali also emphasized the need for broad political consensus on EU integration, saying the country’s European perspective should transcend election cycles and party interests. He said the Ministry of European Affairs remains committed to transparent cooperation with Parliament and concluded that the country’s EU path will be stronger with strengthened parliaments, accountable institutions and well-informed citizens.
