Constitutional Court Forms Case over Levica Initiative for Political Advertising

The Constitutional Court’s formed a case upon Levica’s initiative challenging the Media Agency’s guidelines for the local elections according to which Dimitar Apasiev’s party is not getting funds for political advertising in the campaign.

However, the Court hasn’t decided right away to temporarily stop political advertising, as requested by Apasiev, because the case is just in the previous procedure, while data needed to decide on the request are being gathered.

The Judge who is the rapporteur on the case has a deadline of three days to request an opinion from the Agency, as well as to check court practice in similar cases. Once that happens, they will need to draw up a proposal and present it at a session. The next session of the Court will be held on 15 October.

A decision prior to that regarding the case or a potential measure can be made only if an extraordinary session is organised.
