Constitutional Court Rejects Election Ads Initiatives

The Constitutional Court has not initiated proceedings regarding the initiatives submitted by Levica and Democrats concerning the allocation of funds and political advertising airtime during election campaigns. The decision has been adopted by a majority vote.

Court President Kostadinovski said on Wednesday that the matter concerned an issue on which his institution had already ruled several years prior.

“Some judges and I held a different opinion, but decisions of the Constitutional Court are made by the majority of judges”, Kostadinovski added.

Levica slammed the decision, saying the Constitutional Court had made a political ruling, invoking an outdated decision while ignoring the discrimination directed against it.
