The Constitutional Court has found the Government has the competence and can make a decision on the number of members of local councils.
On Wednesday, the rapporteur on the case, Judge Dobrila Kacarska said the Government was the only organ that could make the decision, adding that it was not in violation of the Constitution. As she also explained, there is no discrimination because in some municipalities, the number of council members increases, whereas in others, it decreases.
The three initiatives challenging the constitutionality were filed by representatives of the DUI-led coalition.
