Court Orders 30-Day Detention for Pulse Owner Jovanov

On Friday, in the new procedure regarding the Kochani fire, the Criminal Court accepted the Prosecutor’s Office’s request and ordered a 30-day detention for Pulse owner Dejan Jovanov, who is suspected of bribing a Ministry of Economy official to secure an operating license for the hospitality venue.

As grounds for requesting detention, the Prosecutor’s Office cited the flight risk, as well as the fact that criminal proceedings are already underway against Jovanov in relation to the main case. The offense of “giving a bribe” carries a prescribed prison sentence of one to ten years.

The Office also stated that the official suspected of receiving the bribe had already been indicted and was facing judicial proceedings. Jovanov’s attorney will appeal the decision on detention.
