At a session of the Judicial Council on Wednesday, the body’s head, Vesna Dameva, and Judge Lazar Nanev, traded numerous accusations over the former’s cousin, Ljupco Grkov, who’s wanted on an international warrant.
Dameva has sought a procedure to determine accountability over Nanev’s accusations that the Council has failed to protect him against Grkov’s threats and that she has influenced the extradition request concerning the Grkov case, thus harming her and the Council’s reputation.
On the other hand, Dameva said that though Grkov was a relative of hers, she hadn’t been in communication with him since 2017 because of his behaviour.
She believes Nanev should seek protection from relevant institutions. Nanev responded by saying that Grkov had for several years been threatening him that he would kill him and that his family hadn’t been spared either.
Grkov, who is in London, has been sentenced to one year in prison for endangering Nanev’s safety. At one point during the debate, Dameva said Nanev was being too loud and scaring her.
