At its extraordinary session on Monday, the Judicial Council didn’t debate the issue of a new head, following Vesna Dameva’s resignation.
Since two members, Loreta Gjorgjieva and Aleksandar Kambovski, were absent, the rest unanimously decided it was better for the matter to be discussed at the next session, when everyone would be present. Though Monday’s session saw fellow members say they were surprised by Dameva’s resignation, the Government welcomed her decision.
“Following the huge remarks about the work of Council President Dameva, her resignation is the only decision that is possible and right. We understand that this decision will impact and concern many due to their shady work, huge suspicions of crime, and falsification of minutes, but justice has to start to function,” it said.
