VLEN has responded to DUI’s reaction to Vesna Dameva’s resignation as Judicial Council President, assessing that the “party clan that destroyed everything” doesn’t have any legitimacy to talk about political ethics and pressures.
“The public knows well that the Chief of the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption, Islam Abazi, is close to DUI. That was confirmed by the posting of photos of him and leader Ali Ahmeti’s brother, as well as of him and high-ranking officials of this party. A lot of former officials from DUI have found “comfort” in the court system, where they continue to deliver “unbiased justice”. Ixhet Memeti, who was caught in the act, and, at the same time vetted, DUI is an example of this,” it ironically remarked in Monday’s press-release.
VLEN also criticised DUI over, as it said, the meeting at Villa Vodno with then-President Stevo Pendarovski, when Ahmeti’s party asked for “its boss”, former PM Nikola Gruevski, to return “on a white horse”.
In that regard, it stressed that DUI had exerted pressure also on Supreme Court President Besa Ademi.
“Over these pressures, those selling fake morals received also warnings from foreign embassies over the continued pressure on Ademi,” VLEN noted.
In the press-release, it also stressed that in April 2023, Dameva had been dismissed as Council President by DUI member Selim Ademi, “who, then, in the capacity of Council Deputy President, outvoted and dismissed her because he’d put the items benefitting the former government on the agenda.”
