Day 1 of Gjorgjievski Mayoral Term Sees Start of Announced Cleanup Activity

On Thursday, Orce Gjorgjievski formally received the certificate from the State Election Commission (SEC) and became the Mayor of Skopje. He stated that the first activity, already announced by him, to clean up the capital in 72 hours would start that day.

The activity started, later that day, from the parking lot near the Aleksandar Palace in the centre of the capital. Among those at the start were Gjorgjievski himself, PM and VMRO-DPMNE leader and PM Hristijan Mickoski, and mayors of municipalities in Skopje.

The Mayor stressed at the start that Skopje had to be a clean and dignified city.

“We’ve mobilised all services and we will show in the next 72 hours that that is possible”, he underlined.

Gjorgjievski also stated that 371 people had been fired from PEs over no-show jobs. Also, the Mayor pointed out that there had been misuse within the City, that is, that communal vehicles would be used by companies, which would be afterwards be paid like for councillor services.
