
At the Vienna Migration Conference, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Zoran Dimitrovski stated that his country was actively adjusting to the new reality by developing policies on management of legal migration matching the country’s demographic and economic needs.
In that regard, what was also highlighted was the importance of building partnerships with countries of origin with regards to developing sustainable models of work mobility, improving return systems, and reducing irregular migration.
During the conversation, it was stressed that the processes were in line with European initiatives, such as the Migration and Asylum Pact, as well as the EU’s Action Plan for the Western Balkans.
North Macedonia, as well as the other Western Balkan countries, are part of Europe and its policies, not an area outside its borders, the Foreign Ministry said in the press-release, adding in that regard, that the country was neither thinking about nor supporting ideas for opening camps for a return of rejected asylum seekers.
