Deputy Minister Dimitrovski on President’s Comments on EU Path

Regarding President Siljanovska Davkova’s comments, in an interview with the MKD portal, on “abstracting ourselves” from the “made-up” road to Brussels, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Zoran Dimitrovski, said on Thursday that there was no alternative to EU membership regarding Macedonia.

“She will need to explain what she was referring to, but, in any case, we remain fully orientated towards EU integration. Macedonia doesn’t have another road. Our European path is unambiguous and there is no alternative to it. I can announce that on behalf of the Foreign Ministry and, I’m certain, of the Government. I think she’s referring to the same thing, but she will need to explain in which context she gave her statements”, he stressed.

In the interview, the President, asked how the country could fight the increasingly obvious politicization of the Western Balkans’ integration path, as opposed to meeting of prescribed conditions, had also said that it should be done by “abstracting ourselves from the status of membership”, something which should have been done a long time ago.
