Despite Being Highest-rated Judge, Mileva not Elected Appellate Court Head

On Thursday, Zoran Gerasimovski was elected Acting President of the Skopje Appellate Court even though the other candidate, Tanja Mileva, was the highest-rated Judge. Mileva, nominated by Judicial Council member Antoaneta Dimovska, received only two votes, while Gerasimovski, nominated by Ivica Nikolovski, got the support from nine members.

“We should select the Judge who received the most points in the latest evaluation because that way, we elect a judge whose professional quality has been objectively established”, Council member Suzana Joshevska-Anastasovska said.

That position, however, did not receive majority support. The session also saw the Council determine that Struga Basic Court President Vinca met old-age retirement conditions.
