On Thursday, multiple people were detained in an operation of the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organised Crime and Corruption and Interior Ministry at the Agency for Financial Support of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Currently, the Agency’s Director, Ilija Stoilev, too, is being held for an informative conversation, Telma said in its 6:43 pm report.
Authorities suspect he was spotted receiving a bribe of, as the TV station has learned, 5,000 euros in exchange for speeding up a process for payment of European funds allocated by the Agency.
In the same report, Telma quoted the Office as saying multiple locations were being searched throughout the country on grounded suspicion of corruption crimes.
Stoilev, who was appointed by the Government in July 2024, is also the head of VMRO-DPMNE’s Municipal Committee in Sveti Nikole. Investigation sources have also told Telma the investigation covers a former MP from Struga as well.
