Double Elections: Messages after Polling Stations Close at 7 pm

After the end of the vote at 7 pm on Wednesday, State Election Commission (SEC) President Aleksandar Dastevski said the double elections had been democratic and fair, successfully organised, and professionally carried out.

VMRO-DPMNE Vice-President Timco Mucunski said that DUI’s “open call” to boycott the presidential election’s second round had failed. “Macedonia will have a new President. The threshold has been met,” he added.

SDSM Spokesperson Bogdanka Kuzeska stated that every party, for its actions in the elections, should answer to itself and to citizens. DUI’s Arber Ademi said the European Front coalition led by his party expected to be the winner in the ethnic Albanian bloc, with over 20 MP seats.

Regarding the issue of a boycott of the second round of the presidential election, he stated that his party had let its supporters decide whether they would vote in the second round, adding that the results showed a small part of them had boycotted that process.

On the other hand, VLEN’s Izet Mexhiti said his coalition was the absolute winner in the ethnic Albanian bloc.
