Commenting on the results of the reruns, DUI said on Monday it was the convincing winner in the ethnic Albanian bloc, as proven by the victory in the Gostivar and Vrapchishte mayoral races.
According to Ahmeti’s party, if early elections are held, the DUI-led coalition will have a convincing lead over VLEN. However, VLEN, on its part, said the local elections had shown it was in fact the leading factor in the ethnic Albanian bloc.
“These elections have clearly proven Albanians spoke in one voice. The ten victories in municipalities are undisputed proof that VLEN is the political locomotive of Albanians, the force that leads, unites, and brings a long-awaited change at a local level”, it noted.
