On 2 August 1903, Albanians, Macedonians, and other communities united in the common struggle for freedom and equality, while the goal was achieved through the common rule and equal split of responsibilities to lead the people that year, DUI leader Ali Ahmeti says on the occasion of the 122nd anniversary of the Ilinden Uprising.
However, he adds that in the present day, the communities are on opposite sides, with tendencies of marginalisation and imposing of ethnic supremacy.
“After decades of contribution to equality and a just split of responsibilities, today, we multiply ourselves by zero in implementing the Government’s policies, employments, diplomacy, security, culture, healthcare, education, economy, EU integration, and everywhere. They’re trying to abolish the Ohrid Framework Agreement, which represents a modern-day Krusevo Manifesto, through the exclusion of Albanian from official use, through selective and politically orchestrated justice, through the removal of the Albanian national flag, through the abolition of Badinter majority and the Balancer as mechanisms against a diktat of the majority, through non-recognition of the results of the census, and through the promotion of state policies based on the ‘again yours’ monoethnic doctrine”, Ahmeti says.
The DUI leader criticises also VLEN in relation to the “dangerous deviation” from the Manifesto. Ethnic Albanians, Ahmeti stresses, are committed to a unitary, common, and just country, a future EU member, where everyone will be equal.
