Holding a Congress meeting by 20 December is one of the main decisions made by DUI, whose Central Presidency held a session on Monday, convened by leader Ali Ahmeti.
“We discussed all developments, political developments and internal developments within DUI, the coalition, and so on. Considering that the deadline for a party Congress has expired, facing these political developments, it’s been decided for a party Congress to be held by 20 December”, the party’s Arber Ademi noted.
Asked whether there had been discussions on resignations over DUI’s results in the local elections, he noted that hadn’t been the case considering there would be intraparty elections. He also pointed to Ahmeti’s comments after the closing of polling stations the previous day that DUI had received the message.
“However, at a national level, we remain the biggest political option, with over 23,000 more votes. When it comes to some municipalities, yes, that’s the result we already have, which was announced publicly yesterday. And, surely, DUI’s entering a process of renewal, which is why a party Congress is being organised that will need to be held by 20 December”, he explained.
Ademi also said the session had seen a decision made to form the organisational board for the Congress session that would consist of eight DUI members.
