According to SDSM leader Venko Filipce, the EP’s draft-report has confirmed his party’s warnings that the VMRO-DPMNE-government has been putting North Macedonia in a position of a hostage of other countries, geopolitical isolation, and dangerous economic dependence.
“In addition to the dangerous borrowing through direct loans, policies are employed under a diktat by other countries that have too big of an influence on the government. Now, that is being seen and confirmed more and more. The report clearly states that North Macedonia is hard hit by foreign interference and disinformation campaigns, including hybrid threats, strategic corruption, opaque financial flows, and coercive investment practices, notably originating in Russia and China”, he stressed on Monday.
The SDSM leader added that what was especially concerning and noted by the EU was the loan from Hungary, which indicated a risk of financial dependence from China.
“We were warning over that, too”, he noted.
