EU Ambassador Rokas Hopes Von der Leyen Visit Will Unblock EU Talks

EU Ambassador Rokas hopes the visit EC President von der Leyen will pay to North Macedonia in 2-3 weeks will be the decisive step towards opening of accession negotiations. He presented that stance on Monday, when he was asked whether and when the country could expect to launch EU talks.

The EU Ambassador did not directly answer whether constitutional changes with delayed effect could be part of the plan to unblock the process, stating that work was underway to move the process forward.

Neither Ambassador Rokas nor PM Mickoski wished to comment on the initiative in the Bulgarian Parliament by Revival MP and leader Kostadin Kostadinov to treat the Macedonian language as a dialect of Bulgarian.
