On Tuesday, the DUI-led European Front filed no-confidence motions against Interior Minister Pance Toskovski, Deputy Interior Minister Astrit Iseni, 1st Deputy PM Izet Mexhiti, and Deputy PM and Intercommunity Relations Minister Ivan Stoilkovic.
European Front Parliamentary Group Coordinator Blerim Bexheti said Mexhiti was responsible for the poor management of the country’s situation, including also with regards to interethnic relations.
“Instead of acting as an interethnic peace guarantor, he’s failed to protect the interests of Albanians and hasn’t contributed to the preservation of social and interethnic harmony,” the former Saraj Mayor noted.
According to the Front, on Albanian Flag Day, 28 November, Toskovski and Iseni ordered police to intervene in an unprecedented and unjustified manner, preventing a peaceful event of ethnic Albanians. The intervention, Bexheti noted, has caused unnecessary tensions and undermined the atmosphere of peace and interethnic coexistence.
Regarding Stoilkovic, the Front said that his “inaction” during the recent events in Kumanovo, when several vehicles and stores owned by ethnic Albanians had been burned down clearly showed both his and the Government’s failure to deal with the interethnic situation with the necessary level of professionalism and care, while Stoilkovic had failed to implement the official use of Albanian. In response, however, VLEN said DUI had been the ones that had created problems.
“DUI organised the problems and incidents,” it said, ironically adding that Ahmeti’s party should file a no-confidence motion against itself.
VMRO-DPMNE MP Velika Stojkova Serafimovska, too, reacted, saying DUI and SDSM were afraid of Toskovski because they couldn’t carry out any “dark scenario” they’d created to destabilise the country.
