Former State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) President Biljana Ivanovska will be an independent candidate for Centar Mayor, the Nezavisni Zaedno (Independent Together) initiatives, which are endorsing her, said on Wednesday.
The initiatives, Shansa za Centar (Chance for Centar), Zelenite od Gazi Baba (The Greens from Gazi Baba), and 398, described her as a prominent fighter for justice and one of the most respectable public figures. Also on Wednesday, Nezavisni za Karpos (Independents for Karpos) said it would run in the elections with a citizens’ list.
“We adhere to the principle that independent action enables us to adjust to everyday demands and priorities of citizens in our Municipality. It is much harder to attain that flexibility, which we consider to be key to our efficiency, in the frames of a bigger group or a party, where the decision-making process is longer and will often require compromises at the expense of local needs.
Joining a party has always been the last option to participate in elections, while, as long as other opportunities exist through which we will keep our independence and principles of citizens’ work, we will use those options”, it stressed.
