Experts Voice Stands on Amnesty Law

Constitutional law professor Svetomir Skaric says that though the amnesty process is needed and prisons are overcrowded, constitutional and criminal law suffer because Parliament enters the judicial power.

His stand is that such laws destroy the judiciary. Academician Vlado Kambovski agrees that prisons in North Macedonia are below international standards.

However, he adds that it should be examined whether the reasons presented by the proponents of the law are justified.

Former European Court of Human Rights Judge Margarita Caca-Nikolovska isn’t sure that the amnesty will overcome prison problems.
