The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has opened an investigation against North Macedonia’s Basketball Federation due to the nationalist chants during the North Macedonia-Romania basketball match in Kumanovo on Saturday.
“At this stage, we’re gathering relevant reports related to the incident and are closely coordinating with the involved national Federations, as well as with local authorities and law enforcement organs”, a FIBA representative has said.
The chants have been condemned by all political actors in North Macedonia, while the Interior Ministry has already taken activities to penalize those responsible.
