SDSM leader Venko Filipce believes that Bulgaria should say it will not have unprincipled demands. As he stated during a visit to Prilep, Sofia should truly take a real step in terms of acting more European towards Skopje.
“If we fear that we may face in the future some blockade on unprincipled grounds, on the basis of the language, identity, and so on, let them demonstrate European behaviour and say that there will not be that. Full stop. Let them say, ‘No, we want our neighbours to be in Europe, there, we will give you a chance, don’t worry, there will not be such demands’. There you have it, that’s genuine good-neighbourly policy instead of just pressuring someone that’s smaller and weaker than you”, Filipce added.
As the SDSM leader added, his party is working and lobbying with sister-parties part of PES for support of MEP and Rapporteur Thomas Waitz’s draft report. In response to his comments, VMRO-DPMNE said that Filipce had reached its stand in terms of that it was not only about constitutional changes.
