At a press-conference at around 10:50 pm on Sunday, SDSM leader Venko Filipce congratulated all candidates that had won mayoral races as early as the first round, stressing that the election process had been organised well and peaceful, even though there were certain remarks.
“According to processed data, SDSM has secured a victory in three municipalities in the first round: Kriva Palanka, Bogdanci, and Krivogastani. Additionally, based on approximately 70% of processed votes, we’re in the lead in another nine municipalities: Centar, Probistip, Cucer Sandevo, Cesinovo[-Oblesevo], Valandovo, Konce, Krusevo, Lozovo, and Rosoman, where there will be a second round”, the SDSM leader emphasised.
As he underlined as well, SDSM’s second in several municipalities. The SDSM leader also pointed out that considering the circumstances, his party’s result was not bad, stressing that there were several municipalities where the outcome was unclear.
Asked by a journalist whether he was planning to resign as SDSM leader, Filipce stated that he didn’t.
“I plan to continue to work on consolidating the party. There is a huge number of people our messages is reaching. Truly, this is a start”, he underlined.
