Five people, including ex-Agriculture Minister Trajan Dimkovski, have been charged with abuse of official position.
The Prosecutor’s Office has said that they didn’t notify the Government over the factual situation with regards to the stock exchange operations of the Agro Berza PE regarding the shortage of mercantile corn and barley, thus causing financial damage to the budget of around 800,000 euros. Prosecutors have sought measures of precaution.
According to the press release, instead of notifying the Government over the unfounded shortage of mercantile corn and barley from 2019 to 2021, they submitted inaccurate data and information.
With that, they broke the law, while the Commodity Reserves Agency was tasked with carrying out a write-off process regarding 1,500 and 500 tons of mercantile corn and barley, respectively, for cattle food, worth 473,635 euros at the time of the write-off, it was pointed out. Based on prices corn and barley would be procured in 2022, their worth was 780,487 euros.
