Foreign Minister Mucunski Meets Bulgarian Counterpart in Helsingborg

Foreign Minister Timcho Mucunski met Friday Bulgarian counterpart Velislava Petrova Chamova on the sidelines of the NATO meeting in Helsingborg, Sweden.

At the meeting, Mucunski stressed that the Macedonian language, identity, culture, and history cannot be subject of negotiation. He underscored that these elements are fundamental to the nation’s sovereignty and must be respected in bilateral relations.

As the Foreign Ministry reported, the interlocutors also discussed other bilateral maters, like the cooperation on the Corridor 8 construction, the opening of the Klepalo border-crossing and other matters.

Later, speaking from Helsingborg, Mucunski highlighted that defense investments, support for Ukraine, and the Western Balkans remain central to North Macedonia’s foreign policy. According to Mucunski, NATO is an alliance that is getting stronger year by year, thanks to the allocation of 5% of the state budget of its member-states.
