Timco Mucunski is participating in the meeting of Berlin Process Foreign Ministers taking place in Belfast.
Discussions focused on regional cooperation, European perspectives of Western Balkan countries, and common security challenges. North Macedonia’s Foreign Minister underlined in his address the need for a common response to modern security challenges, cybrid and hybrid threats, disinformation, migration, illegal funding and organised crime, “which additionally impacts security and stability, undermining institutions and public confidence”.
The EU’s enlargement policy represents a vital framework to transform societies and advance good-neighbourly relations, democratic standards, and the rule of law, it was pointed out at the meeting.
Also in Belfast, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul sent a message that without progress towards the EU, there was a risk when it came to Western Balkan countries in terms of new divisions and falling under Russian and Chinese influence.
