On Monday, in Brussels, Foreign Minister Mucunski reacted to comments made earlier by Bulgarian counterpart Petrova-Chamova that they’d had an official bilateral meeting. As he explained, there was just a one-minute conversation.
Mucunski also reacted to her use of the term “North Macedonian”, saying Macedonians were Macedonians and it was not a matter of politics, but rather of basic respect for a people’s identity and dignity.
Petrova-Chamova had earlier said her country had a clear position that, since 2022, hadn’t been a bilateral issue, but rather a matter of discussion between the EU and a candidate. According to her, the stand was confirmed on Monday.
“I told this to our North Macedonian partners as well. We expect activities by them that will show they have full political readiness to proceed forward on their own European path”, she said.
