Gashi Believes There should Be only One Committee of Inquiry on Kochani Fire

It’s still unknown whether MPs will try to determine political accountability for the Kochani fire in an expanded format.

Speaker Gashi said he’d asked for there to be only one committee of inquiry. However, he added he was leaving it to parties to reach a mutual deal themselves. The two initiatives, by the ruling majority and by the opposition, are on the agenda of the December 3 plenary session.

According to the Speaker, a dilemma has appeared as to whether a committee of inquiry could impact the trial, but MPs have said only potential political accountability will be sought. However, if it’s determined some politician had an impact in terms of the tragedy, there will be repercussions afterwards.
