Citizens expect Parliament to strengthen its oversight debates and control over the work of the Government, Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi said today during a discussion on parliamentary supervision in North Macedonia.
The debate, organized in cooperation with the Parliamentary Support Program and the National Democratic Institute (NDI), focused on the oversight capacity of the Assembly.
Gashi acknowledged that dilemmas have emerged regarding the application of the new Rules of Procedure, which were adopted through political consensus. However, he noted that during their drafting and adoption, parliamentary experts and the academic community were not included, a gap that has now become evident.
