
Around one hour and 45 minutes after the closing of polling stations on Sunday, VMRO-DPMNE candidate Orce Gjorgjievski declared a victory in the Skopje mayoral race. He did so while, together with supporters of his, going towards the ruling party’s seat in the centre of Skopje, where celebrations had already started.
His opponent in the race was Levica’s Amar Mecinovic. In Karpos, VMRO-DPMNE’s candidate, Sotir Lukrovski, declared a victory over his opponent, Stevco Jakimovski, the Experience for Success coalition-endorsed candidate running for another term.
“My dear Karpos people, I want to thank you all for the huge support and declare the historic victory of VMRO-DPMNE in Karpos”, he stressed.
In Centar, SDSM-endorsed Goran Gerasimovski declared a victory over ZNAM-endorsed Miroslav Labudovic. Gerasimovski said being re-elected was the greatest honour, but also a huge obligation.
In Kumanovo, ZNAM leader Maksim Dimitrievski declared a victory, saying he’d received congratulations from his opponent in the second round, independent candidate Goran Stojkovski (aka Diro).
In Struga, despite the small advantage (at that moment), the independent candidate endorsed by VLEN, Mendi Qyra, declared a victory over the candidate endorsed by the DUI-led coalition, Arsim Dalipi.
In Tetovo, VLEN co-leader Bilall Kasami, said he would have a second mayoral term, that is, he declared a victory over the DUI-led coalition’s candidate, Bajram Rexhepi, who congratulated Kasami on the victory.
In Kicevo, VMRO-DPMNE’s candidate, Aleksandar Jovanovski, declared a victory over the DUI-led coalition’s candidate.
“Togetherness has won, Kicevo has won”, he said.
