The solution lies in full reform, full de-particisation of both the Judicial Council and the Council of Public Prosecutors, the Government said on Monday.
Asked about the part of the 2024 Report, according to which “announced intentions by the executive to disband the two Councils are a matter of serious concern”, the Government pointed out that whenever the issue of disbanding the two institutions was raised, many were worried, while, through experts that had been “obeyers” of SDSM and DUI for many years, they defended positions that that couldn’t be done.
“Unfortunately, the court-prosecutorial system in Macedonia is disastrous,” it added, describing the judiciary as “captured”.
The Government believes that the allegations about “brutal particisation” of the Academy for Judges and Prosecutors was the best example to back its claims.
“Therefore, we confirm that the solution lies in full reform, full de-particisation of both the Judicial Council and the Council of Public Prosecutors. Once any procedures start, the public will be notified,” it stressed, adding that the peer review mission’s recommendations needed to be seriously considered.
