Government’s Procedure to Dismiss Kocevski to Resume November

The Government’s procedure to dismiss Ljupco Kocevski as Prosecutor-General will resume in November because legal limitations are blocking the process in the pre-election period.

“We’re entering a process of scheduled elections. The elections will most likely be scheduled towards the end of next week. So, all processes of election and naming will be stopped due to limitations stemming from the law”, PM Hristijan Mickoski stated on Friday.

If Kocevski resigns, deputies will take over his work. The PM believes that the Prosecutor-General continues to be “loyal” to DUI and SDSM.

“Even though I had been accused of collaborating with him, dictating charges or obstructing court processes, that was rebutted in Parliament in several minutes”, Mickoski stressed, adding that MPs representing the previous ruling structure had been the ones that had supported Kocevski during the no-confidence motion process.

On the other hand, SDSM stated that a dismissal of the Prosecutor-General was unprincipled from the standpoint of separation of powers.
