The fire near the villages of Dolno and Gorno Chichevo in the Municipality of Gradsko has been localized and extinguished, the Director of the Protection and Rescue Directorate, Angelov, said. Firefighting units from Negotino and Kavadarci also participated in the extinguishing operation.
At 1 p.m. on Wednesday, the Crisis Management Center said five fires remained active, three had been brought under control, and six had been completely extinguished.
Meanwhile, regarding the wildfire situation, DOM has demanded that the rehabilitation and reforestation of burned forests be the primary obligation following every fire — with clear institutional accountability, expert plans, and complete transparency — in order to prevent the commercial logging of burned timber.
