Grubi, Bajrami, Dimovski, and Five Others Charged in Lottery Case

The Skopje Prosecutor’s Office has filed a charge against U.S.-blacklisted former DPM Grubi in the Lottery case, alongside a proposal for him to remain under house arrest.

Grubi and seven other individuals, including former Government Secretary General Metodija Dimovski and former State Lottery Director Perparim Bajrami — who is at large — have been charged with abuse of official position in 2023 and 2024 and damaging the state budget to the tune of 8.2 million euros through the decision to procure video lottery terminals. The Criminal Court has said that the trial will start on August 24.

Through automated allocation, the case has been assigned to Judge Biljana Shuplinovska-Joveski. Meanwhile, DUI has fiercely criticized the charge, assessing it as absurd and politically motivated. On the other hand, VLEN asks why DUI remained silent for almost two years and is reacting on the very day the indictment has been filed.
