Gruevski Cases: Justice Ministry Starts Procedure to Get Required Documents

The Ministry of Justice has said it’s started the procedure for getting the required documents for all cases related to former PM Gruevski, so that, after its analyses, it can potentially submit a request for his extradition from Hungary.

Regarding his phone conversation with Tisza’s Anita Orban, Foreign Minister Mucunski said the possibility of extraditing Gruevski hadn’t been discussed, explaining that they’d mainly focused on common bilateral priorities.

North Macedonia previously submitted one extradition request for Gruevski, in 2018, as well as an addendum to the request, a year later, but Hungary rejected it with the explanation that Gruevski had been granted asylum, and according to Hungarian laws, a person who had received asylum in Hungary couldn’t be extradited to the country they’d escaped from.
