Independent Council Member Krstevski Interested in Serving as Acting Mayor of Kocani

Independent Kocani Council member Venko Krstevski has said that he is interested in serving as Acting Mayor, following Ljupco Papazov’s resignation. As he explains, he’s decided to express his interest because Council members from the ruling party, VMRO-DPMNE, haven’t nominated anybody.

“I am aware that I am the only independent member. However, I believe some of the other members will recognise my quality and honest desire to create better conditions for the life of the people of Kocani and their children. I am always on the people’s side”, Krstevski pointed out on Friday.

The following day, i.e., on Saturday, a new protest march was held in Kocani where relatives of the 61 people killed in the fire again said there should be justice. A protester was also holding a banner reading “This is not an accident. This is murder”. The protest march was headlined “Belated reaction”.

When it comes to the issue of whether a committee of inquiry should be formed in Parliament, through VMRO-DPMNE, SDSM, and DUI agree that that should be done, Ali Ahmeti’s party believes that such a body can be formed, now, during the investigation, saying there were such examples in the past. However, the other two parties consider that the investigative activities should first be finished.
