Interior Minister Toskovski Comments on Bekteshi and Nightclub Controls Issues

Asked about the issue of a charge against ex-Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi regarding the Kocani nightclub fire, Interior Minister Pance Toskovski stated that the evidence should be first completed.

“The investigative procedure, formally, upon a charge filed by the Ministry, hasn’t started. That’s why there is a 48-hour detention measure, to enable full completion of the evidence, after which the Ministry will file a criminal charge and the public will be notified of which act he’s criminally prosecuted for, if a charge is filed.

According to what I’ve been able to see from the evidence gathered so far, I think it will be for the same crime as everyone else. However, that falls under the competence of the organs in the frames of the Ministry and the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Based on evidence gathered so far, I consider it should be the same crime”, he noted.

Asked about the detained Kumanovo nightclub owner in the frames of the controls being conducted by joint teams of his Ministry, the State Market Inspectorate, and the Protection and Rescue Directorate, Toskovski stated that based on preliminary information, a huge number of irregularities had been detected.

“According to preliminary information I’ve received, this is not the only fake licence issued in the previous period. There is at least one in Skopje”, Toskovski underlined.
