In a democratic society, tragedies mustn’t be left without answers, while society has the right to know the truth, PM Mickoski assessed at Saturday’s international conference on institutional and clinical aspects and solutions following the Kochani fire, held to mark the first anniversary of the nightclub tragedy.
When it comes to the matter of who’s to blame, Mickoski said the Prosecutor’s Office and courts should give the answer. In his speech, he read the names of the 63 people killed in the fire and talked about the joint efforts and solidarity of health workers, rescuers, institutions, international partners, and citizens for the mobilization to rescue those injured.
It was concluded at the conference that the domestic system had dealt with the accident more than properly in the first moments after the tragedy, but that work was still needed to overcome weaknesses. To overcome the problems, working groups have been formed tasked with drawing up plans for the future.
The same day, a liturgy was held Kochani, while Sunday saw Kochani Municipality hold an event presenting certificates of gratitude to 36 foreign hospitals, embassies, state institutions, and ministries for the activities following the fire. The central marking will be held in Kochani on Monday.
