Bulgarian President Iotova is preparing a diplomatic offensive in Brussels to defend her country’s positions regarding North Macedonia’s EU path.
This is happening in a period of more and more vocal messages from European institutions that the veto principle will be abolished in decisions on integration of new members and a transition towards a qualified majority vote.
At an urgent meeting with Bulgarian MEPs, Iotova said what was needed was more active coordination and engagement by all institutions to protect national positions. Participants agreed Bulgaria had to firmly adhere to its stand and insist on fulfillment by Skopje of obligations stemming from the French proposal.
